Home >> Netherlands >> ElsevierAbout Elsevier Magazine Elsevier is a Dutch weekly magazine with a circulation of over 140,000 copies. Its chief editor is Arendo Joustra. The predecessor of the magazine, Elsevier's Geïllustreerd Maandschrift (Elsevier's Illustrated Monthly), was prohibited in 1940 by the German authorities. In 1945, Elsevier became a magazine, fulfilling preparations made by Director Jan Pieter Klautz during the war. Its aim was to take an independent position, not linked to any political party or association. This independence was not maintained for long. By the end of the 1940s Elsevier adopted a clear position against an independent Indonesia. The opinions published nowadays in Elsevier are generally right-wing.
